Limited-Edition Thingyan Festive Menu Now At Burma Burma

Burma Burma welcomes Thingyan, the Burmese New Year, with a flurry of color, flavor, and festivities. Families, friends, and neighbors gather to share a meal and raise a glass to fresh starts during the Thingyan festival, which is celebrated throughout Burma with tables laden with food. Food is the language of celebration during this time, uniting people over shared meals.

From May 1 to May 31, 2026, Burma Burma, India’s most popular Burmese specialty restaurant and tearoom, invites you to celebrate with a limited-edition Thingyan Festive Menu. The menu replicates the festive atmosphere of people congregating and sharing meals, drawing inspiration from Burmese lunch houses that come to life during the celebration.

Comforting rice, colorful curries, stir-fries, and crisp sides that reflect the layered flavors of Burmese home-style cooking are all combined in the heart of the menu’s substantial Thingyan Rice Bowls, which are designed for two. Street-style small plates, unique festive desserts, and cool seasonal drinks are also available on the menu.

The playful custom of splashing water, which represents purification and the washing away of the old to welcome the new, is what defines Thingyan, also called the “Water Festival”. Beyond Burma’s boundaries, the celebrations coincide with harvest and New Year’s celebrations in various Asian countries. Burmese lunch houses are at their liveliest during this time of year, when neighbors, family, and friends congregate for hearty and filling meals.

On offer are Mohinga Rice Bowl, Pickled Roselle Bowl, New Year Parcels, Street-style Rice Crêpes, Palata Sando, Crunchy Shiitake & Radish Salad, Summer Salad, Fritter Platter, Hawker’s Rice Bowl, Rustic Rice Bowl, Pandan Tamarind Fizz, Hibiscus Lemonade, Mango Picante, Ice Plum Soda, Banana Bliss, Mango Sesame Cake, and others.

Keep an eye out for the fruit leather vendor selling handcrafted fruit leathers in colorful combinations like raw mango and kokum, pineapple and coconut, muskmelon and mint, and tamarind with chilli salt. Each of these combinations captures the strong, sweet, sour, and spicy notes that characterize traditional Burmese street snacks. The offering adds a hint of street-side decadence to the festivities, drawing inspiration from Burma’s vibrant markets, where seasonal fruits are preserved and savored in this unique way. The in-house popsicle station with a fortune spin wheel adds to the fun. Echoing the impromptu charm of market games, you can purchase a treat, spin the wheel, and possibly win another.

The popsicle flavours available are Citrus Ice, Milk Tea Toffee, Tropical Sunrise, and Coco-mint Crush.
Burma Burma reflects the vibrant energy of Burmese lunch houses with its festive colors and floral arrangements. The Thanaka application and the distinctive Burmese hand washing experience enhance the experience. Celebrate Thingyan and welcome the New Year at Burma Burma with this unique experience.
