Kolkata Centre For Creativity announced the launch of the third edition of the annual arts festival, the AMI Arts Festival 2022.

The logo launch of the festival took place in the presence of Richa Agarwal, Chairperson, Kolkata Centre for Creativity, and others.

The event also saw the celebration of 4 years of KCC. Stand-up comedy and folk band performance by Arshinagar followed the cake-cutting ceremony to mark KCC turning four.

The AMI Arts Festival 2022 is a cultural festival that prides itself on its Indian cultural legacy. The festival will have participants from all over the country and encourages the cross-pollination of ideas.

The performances at the festival include Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Anjan Dutt, Iman Chakraborty, Durnibar and Saurav Moni, and Arko Mukhaerjee Collective.

Apart from this, the other performances at the festival include:

  • Slopes to Sea: A journey through traditions across Bengal
  • Meepao with multimedia
  • Tavam
  • Rang-e-Thar
  • Borda Borda
  • Mehfil-e-Qawwali
  • Journeys by Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and Shibasish Banerjee
  • Based on a false story: A clown performance (by Madhurima Goswami and Suroj Biswas)
  • Stand-up comedy by Calcutta Comedy Club
  • Chhau performance by Sima Mahato Mahila Chhau Samity
  • Hip-hop performance by the streetfood music set (Artists: Cizzy and Joesjoint)

The AMI Arts Festival will also feature exhibitions as well. There will be four exhibitions at the festival.

Graffiti competitions and band competitions will also be part of this edition of the festival.

There will be talk sessions as well- both in the virtual mode and onsite mode. Some of the talk sessions are:

  • Discussing the divergent terrains in landscape painting
  • How photography has developed in terms of subject, seeing, and technology during the last 75 years
  • Session with Kala Chaupal
  • Living a dark night…in continuum

The on-site talk session will be on the indigenous food of Santals and their style of cooking.

Visual and performing arts will also be a part of this festival.

The AMI Arts Award will be presented to young artists and artisans in the fields of craft, contemporary arts, and performing arts.

AMI Arts Festival will host a Canadian Film Festival in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission and the National Film Board of Canada on the 23rd and 24th of December at Nazrul Tirtha. Four films with a Canadian-Indian connection based on issues like LGBTI rights, the environment, violence against women, and youth engagement for world betterment will be screened.

The four films are beyond Climate, To Kill a Tiger, Hannah’s Story, and The Syed Family Xmas Eve Game Night.

The festival will begin on 17th December and end on 25th December at Nazrul Tirtha from 12 pm to 8 pm.

The AMI Arts Festival is open to all.
