The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film O Abhagi was graced by the cast and crew of the film.

The film is based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya’s short story ‘Abhagir Swargo’.

Abhagi is a poor villager of lower caste who was abandoned by her husband. Even though she and her son Kangali reside in a little mud home, they are content. When Abhagi was younger, she saw Yamraj in a play and was enthralled with his strength and charisma. His remarks had an impact on her. Yamraj only brings honorable women on his chariot with him after they have been burned at the stake. Ever since Abhagi has been having dreams of fire from her son after her death. Is her wish fulfilled?

The writer and director of this film is Anirban Chakraborty.

“Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay is my favorite author because he always managed to convey a lot of information in a single sentence and because all of his stories and books could easily be adapted for the big screen. An adaption of Abhagir Swargo is O Abhagi. In this movie, the unvarnished and stark reality of rural culture is shown. Each audio-visual component is presented and handled originally and experimentally. The screenplay features numerous additional core characters in addition to the main characters that Sarat Chandra established. Creating something fresh without changing the core of the story itself was the challenge. Let’s see whether the audience likes our interpretation of this story” said the director.

Presented by Swabhumi Entertainment, the film is produced by Dr. Prabir Bhaumik.

The cast of the film consists of Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Subrata Dutta, Debjani Chatterjee, Ishaan Mazumder, Sayan Ghosh, Jiniya Pande, Krishno Banerjee, and Sourav Halder.

The music has been composed by Mousumi Chatterjee.

The film will release on 29^th of March.
