Director Soukarya Ghosal, producer Pooja Chatterjee, and actress Jaya Ahsan graced the press conference of the film OCD at the 28th KIFF.

Shweta is an Indian physician and believes in Cleanliness is next to Godliness since her childhood. Her grandmother had taught her this to protect her from vulgar individuals. Her faith is questioned years later by an atheist friend. The friend questions the usefulness of Godliness when her pedophile neighbor continues to lead a normal life despite harassing a child worker. In the past, this same neighbor had molested her during her childhood. She was too young and afraid to report the crime. What will she do now?

Speaking at the press conference, the director said “I had done Bhoot Pori before with Jaya and it was an absolute pleasure to work with her. I thought about this plot during the pandemic period. We all had nothing to do and were absorbed in keeping our houses clean. It is then that the basic plot came to my mind”.

Jaya Ahsan praised the director for staying true to his craft and not changing his belief due to any pressure. She also added that the role was a very meaty one and any actress would have readily grabbed this role.

The director said “Jaya has no starry tantrums and is a down-to-earth person. When she is on the floor, she is already in the character. She stays in her character throughout and hence she does not have the time to show starry tantrums”.

Speaking about the success of Hawa, Jaya Ahsan said “It is indeed a great thing that people in India can see the content that is made in Bangladesh. I could not show many of my works to my Indian fans. With Hawa, people will get an idea of the kind of work done in Bangladesh. I am not telling all works are of the same level but more or less you can understand the style and format”.
