The search for a home is never-ending. To some, it’s a haven, and to many of us, it’s most likely the nest we all want to be a part of. This short film is about that search and the transcendence that occurs along the way. Home is about women sharing their ecstasies, uncertainties, solitude, libido, and, of course, a friendship with oneself, and is inspired by a poem by Arundhati Subramaniam. The movie is a series of silent images and conversations that build up and deconstruct the verse.

The press conference for director Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee’s short film Home was organized at the 27^th Kolkata International Film Festival.

Gracing the occasion were Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, Sohag Sen, Subhen Chatterjee, Ratasree Dutta, and others.

“After I was introduced to the volume of works of Arundhati Subramaniam, it stayed with me. I was discussing the meaning of the word home with the members of SPCkraft. They gave various interpretations of the word. Later when I told Deepak about making a film on the poem, he asked me to go forward with it. I will not call myself a director and I am not such a great fool. I am an interdisciplinary artist and I have just shown in the film my interpretation of the film” said Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee.

The cast of the film consists of Sohag Sen, Sauraseni Maitra, Tuhina Das, Debjani Chatterjee, Sudipa Basu, Aparajita Auddy, Sohini Sarkar, Bidipta Chakraborty, Chandreyee Ghosh, and others.

“It has a fractured narrative yet one is talking about a whole-Home. It inspired me and I liked it. I often could not understand parts of the film. I trusted Sujoy and went on with the flow. Sujoy says that I am his mentor but I just stayed by him. I did not guide me or do anything else” said Sohag Sen.

The producer of the film was Paromita Lahiri Banerjee, Deepak Bajaj, Preetam Mukherjee, and Aritra Sen.

The cinematographer of the film is Modhura Palit.

The film is of a duration of 18 minutes.
