Crossed Arrows organized the launch of two books on Indian Cinema namely Bollywood Cinema Kaleidoscope authored by Shoma A Chatterji and 16 Frames authored by Amitava Nag.

The book launch event was graced by Prosenjit Chatterjee as Chief Guest, directors Ranjan Ghosh, Sudeshna Roy and the authors.

Bollywood Cinema Kaleidoscope offers an insight into different aspects of Bollywood cinema that needs highlighting now.

16 Frames is a collection of 16 critical articles on cinema analyzing the different trends and intertextualising cinema with the other forms of art.

Speaking at the event, Prosenjit Chatterjee said “I have known Shoma di for many years now. What I like best about her is the fact that she calls a spade, a spade. She never shies away from telling someone that she disliked or liked the work that she has seen. I am looking forward to reading the book”.

Sudeshna Roy highlighted on the fact that times have changed and reading will never go away. One may read the book physically or read it on Kindle. But with changing times, one will have to accept these changes. She also added that both these books on cinema will be a great asset to film students and also to lovers of cinema.

Shoma A Chatterji said that there is a force that drives her to write daily. “The day I will be not able to write is the day I will die. There is a force that drives me daily to write. This has been the case since childhood. And I continue to write and share my views on cinema” said the author.

Ranjan Ghosh who had read Shoma A Chatterji’s books mentioned that gracing her book launch event was a huge privilege for the talented director.
