A press conference was organized for the announcement of the Silent Peaceful Protest Rally.

The conference was organized by Sri Bengal Bihar Orissa Digambar Jain Tirth Kshetra Committee (BBOTC) & All Jain Samaj Kolkata.

On Saturday, 24th December 2022 at about 12 pm members of the Jain Community along with approx 4000 people will march in a silent, peaceful Rally. The Rally will be held to protest against the Gazette Notification S.O.2795 (E) dated 02.08.2019 issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate, Central Government declaring the most sacred Sri Sammed Shikharji Hill as a tourist place instead of the worship place of Jains Community which is not acceptable at all by the entire Jain Community in India and abroad.

The Shikharji hills are a sacred place for Jains Community where twenty Tirthankaras had attained Nirvana. And now this government notification will destroy the sanctity and dignity of the sacred place.

The Rally will start from Digambar Jain Mandir and will take a route from Kalakar Street, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Pagaiya Patti, Brabourne Road, India Exchange Place, Bentinck Street, Dharmatalla More and pass through Metro Y Channel and will end up with a huge meeting.
