Sovabazar Sangrami Club’s Pandal Focus On Sustainability

SwitchON Foundation in collaboration with Sovabazar Sangrami Club and Auth’n, UUVA organized a press conference to understand the need for responsible resource management on the topic- Raising public awareness about limited resources and the importance of reuse in Durga Puja idol preparation.

The press conference was graced by Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Chairman, Techno India Group, RJ Arvind from 94.3 Radio One, Ranjeeta Bhattacharya from SwitchON Foundation, Raktima Banerjee, theme artist from Auth’n, and many other dignitaries.

The idol at Sovabazar Sangrami Club is made from non-recyclable materials like electronic waste and metal scraps like DVDs, CDs, clocks, keyboards, CPU monitors, and others. These materials have been used for decorating the pavilion and also for developing the illuminated fixtures.

The speakers at the press conference threw light on the need to raise public awareness and about adopting eco-friendly practices during Durga Puja.

This theme highlights the fusion between tradition and sustainability. It shows that while you celebrate, you can still reduce the ecological footprint considerably.

Through this initiative, the organizers wanted to make the people aware of the importance of resource reuse and inspire action at the individual and community levels.
