It is difficult to find a Bengali who does not love listening to or watching the Mahalaya. Mahalaya narrates the story of the win of good over evil. It narrates how Ma Durga fought the evil Mahishasura and killed him.

This battle lasted for nine days and on the tenth day of the battle, Ma Durga killed the evil Mahishasura.

Mahalaya also marks the end of Pitru Paksh. People remember their ancestors and do Tarpan to make their ancestor’s souls happy. In the evening, Ma Durga comes to Earth for blessing her devotees.

Zee Bangla understands the significance that Mahalaya has in the lives of the Bengalis. And hence like every other year, they have come up with a special event on the morning of Mahalaya.

Ma Durga has many avatars. She rides on the lion. However, there are many avatars of the Mother Goddess in which she has come to the Earth riding on her lion. That is the main crux of the Mahalaya program that will be aired on Zee Bangla.

Ma Durga will be seen as Chandika, Jagadhatri, Kushmanda, Shandamata, Gandheswari, Kamakhhya, and Mahishasuramardini.

In this program, the audience will see how Devu Parvati will narrate to Ganesh the story of her avatars.

The different avatars of the Mother Goddess will be essayed by eminent film and television actresses.
