“Body autonomy and body image have the potential to influence one’s life in a variety of ways, and comments and statements made by others, as well as messaging in popular culture, can have an impact on how one learns to see themselves. This could have an impact on their career choices, mental health, self-esteem, and relationships. It has an impact on what they do with their bodies, how they access sexual and reproductive health care, and how they use public spaces. Diversity and inclusion must be re-emphasized as society’s core values in the age of social media filters, photoshopping, and airbrushing. We see a strong link between bodily autonomy and access to sexual and reproductive health and rights in our work, so we thought it was important to focus the entire event on bodies, diversity, and acceptance. At Rangeen Khidki, we are working to develop innovative ways to educate and empower communities about human rights in general, and sexual and reproductive health and rights in particular,” said Ms. Sanjina Gupta, the organization’s founder, and director.
