Three Day Painting Exhibition Aitijya-Our Heritage Inaugurated

The Rakshak Foundation in association with Indian Museum, Kolkata Port Trust and the Directorate of Correctional Services, Government of West Bengal organized a three day painting exhibition- Aitijya-Our Heritage.

The paintings were done by the inmates of correctional homes on the theme of Old Kolkata. They were ably guided by renowned painter Suvaprasanna to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Kolkata to commemorate World Heritage Week from 19th to 25th November.

The inauguration saw the presence of Suvaprasanna, Wasim Kapoor, Chaitali Das, Managing Trustee of the Rakshak Foundation, Arun Kumar Gupta, DG & IG, Correctional Service, Govt of West Bengal and others.

Under the umbrella of Shristi Rakshak, this is the flagship project of Rakshak Foundation to foster and showcase the art created by the inmates of the correctional homes. This was officially launched on 2nd October. The short term vision of the project is to foster the art created by the inmates. The long term vision however is to acknowledge and accept the value of art in corrective settings.

With such noble visions, the lives of the inmates will be on a constructive way for sure!!
