Unmish Now Has A Five-Storey Facility In New Alipore

Unmish, a leading center in Kolkata dedicated to supporting children and individuals with special needs, celebrated a major milestone. The organization officially unveiled its new, expanded five-storey facility located in New Alipore. This expansion represents a significant step forward in Unmish’s mission to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary services under one roof, fostering an environment of inclusion, independence, and personal growth for individuals with diverse developmental needs.

Founded in 2009 by Dr. Nita Diwan, Unmish originated from a mother’s vision to create a nurturing, supportive environment for her son and others requiring specialized care. Over the past seventeen years, the center has evolved into a comprehensive hub offering education, therapeutic interventions, vocational training, and mental health services. The new facility is designed to strengthen these capabilities, ensuring that individuals receive holistic support tailored to their unique strengths and potential.

A key highlight of the new five-storey center is the introduction of dedicated Hydrotherapy and Sports facilities. These additions are specifically designed to:

Dr. Nita Diwan, Founder and Director of Unmish, and Nikunj Diwan led the formal inauguration ceremony. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Dr. Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat (Delhi), along with Padma Shri Sajjan Bhajanka, Smt. Geeta Mandaviya and Mr. Sushil Kumar Goenka.

The ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative stone, ceremonial lighting rituals, and a tour of the expanded facility. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a symbolic balloon release, representing aspirations for a more inclusive society where every individual is empowered to realize their fullest potential.
