ZEE5’s new series Chhotolok tells the story of Raja who wants to try to get out of a failing marriage. Amidst this, he gets entangled in a steamy affair with Rupsha. She is a lady with a criminal past. Rupsha is found dead and Raja becomes the prime suspect. What happens next?

The press conference for this upcoming web series took place in the presence of the director Indranil Roychowdhury and the series’ cast.

This is the director’s debut web series.

Director Indranil Roychowdhury said “I am thankful to the ZEE5 team as they have been very patient with me. I have changed the shooting dates sometimes as the script was not final. They have shown immense patience with me. Usually, platforms have their own schedule and cannot devote so much time. But ZEE5 has been very patient. Even the actors gave their utmost for this project”.

The director also mentioned that he welcomed the new challenge of working in a new format, i.e. web series.

The cast of the web series consists of Daminee Benny Basu, Indrani Halder, Priyanka Sarkar, Subhrajit Dutta, Ushasi Ray, Gaurav Chakrabarty, and others.

Gaurav Chakrabarty said “After Abar Proloy, working in Chhotolok was a great experience. The two series are completely different from one another. I wanted to work with the director for a long time and now my dream has come true. All the actors have given their maximum for this project. They have rehearsed before a scene and have tried their best”.

Priyanka Sarkar while speaking about her experience said “This is not only a thriller but also the inter-personal relations of the characters in the series. I wanted to work with the director so when I was offered the role, I agreed immediately. I did not find the character so challenging as I knew the amount of guidance and help I would receive would be enough to pull off the character with ease. As far as the name of the series is concerned, we are all Chhotolok to someone in our lives. We cannot be loved and hated by all”.

Daminee Benny Basu highlighted that the director is a good cook. And his direction is similar to his way of cooking, slow cooking. She said that the audience will be in for a treat with this web series.

“I was scared of working with Benny. I have learned so much from her. She is my teacher. However, when I was her co-actor she did not scold me” said Ushasie Chakraborty. She also mentioned that she will be seen as a powerful woman in the series.

When asked about sharing screen space with Indrani Halder, the actress said “Audiences have not yet come out of Sreemoyee and June Aunty. As a result, we are also stuck there. No one has cast us again in serials. Thankfully, we get to feature again in this thriller. Watch the thriller to know more about our chemistry”.

Ushasi Ray was nostalgic while speaking about the project. “It was around this time in 2022 that we shot for the web series. It has been an incredible journey for me and also for the other actors as well” said the actress.

The series will premiere on 3^rd November on ZEE5.
