Alakesh Debnath is a man of many talents. He is not only a professor but also an active YouTube content creator. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the talented man and got to know about his journey and future plans. Excerpts..

You are a professor by profession. What prompted you to start a YouTube Channel?

Alakesh Debnath- Actually I had acted in a few short films and TV serials (as a Junior artist) and I really loved to watch all kinds of films. So, I thought to share my opinions about those movies as a general/normal audience using this platform. One more thing I must say back then in 2019, negativity about our Bengali Film Industry was at its peak so I decided to spread some positive vibes of our Industry among the audience. I love and respect my industry a lot. Personally, I don’t like being called a Movie Reviewer/Critic, etc.

What sets your channel apart from the other entertainment YouTube channels?

Alakesh Debnath- Honestly speaking, I never thought that I will get 1000 subscribers also (D Alex’ Store Family members) but people gave me their love & support which made our family much bigger now(17400 till date). I think people find me honest and I always try to motivate and give support to new/budding Youtubers whenever required. I feel that this is the main USP of D Alex’Store.

How do you balance the time for teaching and preparing content for the channel?

Alakesh Debnath- That’s really a tough job to do. Teaching is my first priority and I always try to maintain that. I can still remember making videos during lunch break, inside the canteen, on the road, etc. Actually, when you really love to do something you will somehow manage that.

Do you have any memorable incidents with regard to your YouTube channel?

Alakesh Debnath- So many!! I had a very bad phase in my initial days as my Youtube channel was deactivated for almost 4 months due to some false copyright violation. I can still remember how upset I was at that time and had sleepless nights. My family supported me a lot during that terrible period.

What are your future plans with regards to your YouTube channel?

Alakesh Debnath- Actually I am planning to start my own film production house. By the grace of God if I am able to do so someday then I will convert my Youtube channel into the Official Channel of my Production House.
