In a fitting tribute to National Handloom Day, Dharohar 4.0 celebrated the timeless beauty of India’s handloom heritage through an evening that seamlessly blended tradition, artistry, and contemporary expression. The event brought together eminent personalities from diverse fields to champion India’s rich weaving traditions and reinforce the importance of preserving indigenous craftsmanship for future generations.

​The occasion was graced by Smt. Keya Ghosh, Spokesperson, West Bengal BJP, Panelist, and Co-In-Charge of the Department for Party Journals & Publications, serving as the Guest of Honour.

​The celebration witnessed the gracious presence of other notable guests, including renowned Indian actress and model Richa Sharma; Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group; Dr. Rupali Basu, Regional Business Head – East & AP at HCG Cancer Hospitals; Seema Sapru, Principal of The Heritage School; Sayantani Guhathakurta, renowned Indian actress; and Sudeshna Roy, acclaimed Indian film director and actor.

​Conceptualized as a tribute to India’s extraordinary textile legacy, the celebration highlighted industry, sustainability, and the cultural significance of handwoven fabrics.

The evening served as a reminder that every handloom weave represents generations of craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural identity, making its preservation more relevant than ever in today’s rapidly evolving fashion landscape.

Blending heritage, creativity, and purpose, DHAROHAR 4.0 reaffirmed that handloom traditions are not merely relics of the past, but living legacies that continue to shape the country’s cultural identity.

​A major highlight of the event was the Handloom Fashion Walk, where eminent personalities walked the ramp draped in exquisite handwoven ensembles representing India’s diverse weaving traditions. The showcase celebrated the elegance and versatility of handcrafted textiles while encouraging conscious fashion choices that support artisans and weavers over mass-produced alternatives. Each ensemble reflected the richness of India’s textile heritage and underscored the enduring relevance of handloom in contemporary fashion.

​Adding to the celebration was a thoughtfully curated exhibition featuring homegrown, women-led enterprises and handcrafted creations spanning textiles, jewellery, lifestyle products, and wellness offerings. The showcase provided visitors with an opportunity to experience authentic craftsmanship firsthand while engaging with the stories, skills, and traditions that continue to define India’s vibrant artisanal ecosystem.

​Paromita Ghosh, Founder-Director of Candid by Paromita and President of the West Bengal Arts Leadership Council, WICCI, said, “Handloom is a living archive of our culture and craftsmanship. Through Dharohar, we hope to inspire greater appreciation for our weaving traditions and continued support for the artisans who keep them alive”.
