Director Indranil Banerjee, producer Indrani Banerjee and actor Sounak Ray have been working hard to make Unity Pictures a name to reckon with in Kolkata. The trio have been working with minimal equipment to make the best of films which will be appealing to the audiences.

The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up in an exclusive chat with the trio at their office.

Talking about their journey, Indranil Banerjee said “We started with the basic aim of doing creative work in a united manner. Hence the name of the production house as Unity Pictures. We have always brought to the team creative people who want to work”.

Sounak Ray who has acted in the latest short film One Night Stand of the production company shared his journey with the house. “When we started, there were many people with us. But with the passing of time, they are not here. Now only five or six people who are genuinely interested in the work are present. However we appreciate that as these people are enthusiastic about the work and working with them is a blessing”.

Since the production house has gained much popularity in Kolkata and abroad due to their good work, they have now ventured into making nano films and might even make a feature film in the near future, revealed producer Indrani Banerjee.

Unlimited ideas, uniqueness and unity are the three pillars on which Unity Pictures stand.

Short films are now in vogue. As a producer, Indrani Banerjee is now focussing on making Unity Pictures reach out to more people. She is not focussing on the fact how much return she is getting from the money that she has invested in making the films. “We have been lucky to have got the help from the media houses who have been kind enough to give us coverage about our works. That has helped us a lot in reaching out to the audiences and making them aware about our works” revealed the producer.

Indranil Banerjee said “We have got more recognition from abroad. But that does not mean we have not been recognized in Kolkata. But getting recognized abroad means a lot to us!! We are a small production house and now people from Russia and other places want to work with us in our other projects in the role of editor and so on. This is huge”.
