Great news for the fans of Leena Gangopadhyay. The writer, director, and producer have been making the Bengali audiences mesmerized with notable shows in partnership with Saibal Banerjee. Now they have developed a Hindi show that will cater to a broader audience.

Titled Jhanak, the shoot is already in progress in Kolkata.

Aniruddha, Arshi, and Jhanak are the main characters in the story. The male protagonist of the story, Aniruddha, and Arshi, was meant to get married. But are caught in the crossfire of fate as destiny forces Jhanak and Aniruddha into an unworkable marriage in which neither can accept the other or fall in love.

Aniruddha is a young, accomplished software engineer who travels extensively for work-related purposes. Arshi is preparing to wed the ‘to be’ NRI Rahul because she believes she is destined to live a happy life. Rahul meets the heroine of the serial, Jhanak, during a trip to Kashmir before getting engaged. Aniruddha and Jhanak are forced into marriage in a weird game of fate. Arshi gradually becomes envious of Jhanak despite having done nothing wrong. Jhanak leads a difficult life, but she strives to succeed and get well despite everything. She, too, is unsure about the marriage and her feelings for Aniruddha and vice versa due to the impossibility of the marriage.

In the long run, Jhanak finally manages to be a better-performing artist and earn fame. She makes her dead mother proud. And yet, amidst all this, she does not get the love of her man, Aniruddha. Would she finally find love as her man would accept her? Or would Aniruddha stay on with Arshi and refuse to be with Jhanak?

Sunny Sachdeva said “Shooting experience was good. The best part is shooting in Kolkata. I have seen the city in movies and OTT platform shows. But exploring the city and coming to it due to my work has been a great experience. The character I play is a cunning character. He is particular about his things. The character will be revealed more as the day will pass”.

Rishi Kaushik will be seen in the role of the antagonist in the show. The actor revealed that he did not know much about the character and he mentioned that as days will pass he will know about the nuances of the character.

Actors from Kolkata and Mumbai will be seen working in the show. Some of the actors who will be seen in this show are Krushal Ahuja, Bharat Kaul, Dolly Sohi, Sachin Verma, Meghna Kukreja, Neetu Seth, Anand Sharma, and many more.

After the Kolkata part of the shoot is complete, it will be shot in Kashmir and Mumbai.

Jhanak will air soon on Star Plus.
