Pranshu Chatur Lal is a child prodigy in his own right and is the son of Pandit Charanjit Lal and grandson of renowned tabla player Late Pandit Chatur Lal. Pranshu has been learning tabla from his Guru Pandit Charanjit Lal. He has been receiving appreciation globally for his confidence and control over playing the tabla. Like his grandfather, Pranshu has been showcasing great mastery over the rhythms.

At the young age of seven, he delivered his first public performance in the United States of America. After a few performances abroad, the talented tabla player’s first performance in India was in 2003 in Udaipur. Udaipur is the birthplace of his grandfather. He has the privilege to perform a solo tabla recital before Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Ustad Bismillah Khan on 18th August 2003 at New Delhi.

Pranshu has also performed with eminent Indian performers like Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Anup Jalota, Roop Kumar Rathod. He has also collaborated internationally with Horacio Franco, George Brooks, Park Eun Ha.

The tabla player has received honors like Tabla Ratna Award, Tabla Shiromani Award by Orissa Government, Pt. Manmohan Bhatt Parampara Award conferred by Grammy Award winner Padma Vibhushan Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, SA MA PA Festival Award, Mangal Dhwani Samman, Tarana Samman Award.

On the occasion of World Music Day, he performed virtually for Indian embassies in Spain, Seychelles, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Munich, Bali, and Colombo. Due to his dexterity in playing the Tabla, he has been named Prince of Tabla.

During this ongoing global pandemic and the lockdown, he taught online with fellow musicians Mohini Dey, Sooryagayathri, Mahesh Raghvan, and Rhythm Shaw.

According to the young musician, he dedicates his music to his grandfather. He believes in sharing love through music.

We hope that the young tabla player continues to mesmerize us with his performances and continue with his grandfather’s legacy.
