Director Soumodeep Ghosh Chowdhury after making two short films Feet and Foe and Work in Progress have directed his debut feature film titled The Open Secret. The film shows four young film students who decide to make a documentary on the lives of the sex workers in Kolkata. As they go on filming, they understand the reality of the world of prostitutes.

A press conference was conducted after the screening of the film.

The film apart from having young actors in different roles also has five regular sex workers in important roles.

The story, script, screenplay, music and film making is by Soumodeep Ghosh Chowdhury. Speaking about the film, the director said “It was not easy getting them to act in the film. However we convinced their Masi- local guardian at the brothel who gave us permission to shoot them. She used to come and see the frames so that we did not shoot anything else than mentioned”.

The director also mentioned that the film was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2018 and have received positive feedback from the audiences.

The cast of the film consists of Sanchayan Bera, Deboprasad Haldar, Moulika Sajwal, Samragyee Chaudhury and others in important roles.

The film has been conceptualized and produced by Monica Mohnot.
