Walkathon Organized By Medica Oncology To Raise Awareness Of Cancer

About 500 people from all walks of life, including students, cancer survivors, NGOs, family members, and Medica hospital staff, participated in a walkathon in the city to raise awareness of the disease. They started at Kishore Bharati Stadium gate number 6 and continued through Ajay Nagar, Highland Park, and Singhabari Bus Stand before arriving at Medica Superspecialty Hospital.

Palliative Care is this year’s National Cancer Awareness Day topic at Medica Oncology. As a result, the organization’s oncology section declared that it will create a facility to provide coordinated home-based palliative care services for cancer patients for the first time in eastern India in addition to beginning to give radiotherapy as a method of treatment in November.

Indian table tennis player Ms. Mouma Das, singer Anupam Roy, actor Chandan Sen, musician Kalyan Sen Barat, and film director Shiboprosad Mukherjee were among the dignitaries who attended the awareness walkathon at Medica Superspecialty Hospital to highlight the importance of the cancer awareness cause. The dignitaries and celebrities discussed their ideas and personal encounters with cancer and cancer patients, encouraging the audience to hold onto hope and adopt a positive outlook because cancer is not always fatal and may be treated if detected early.

The rally was flagged off by Dr. Alok Roy – Chairman of Medica Group of Hospitals, Dr. Sourav Datta – Director (Medica Cancer Projects), Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Dr. Subir Ganguly – Senior Consultant Radiation Oncology, Medica Superspecialty Hospital & Dr. Sudeep Das –Consultant Medical Oncologist, Medica Superspecialty Hospital amongst various other doctors, medical staffs & guests.

The walkathon’s main goal was to raise awareness of how crucial early detection and rapid, efficient treatment are, but that ultimately overcoming cancer requires faith, moral support, a good outlook, and a willingness to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The ceremony was finished with volunteers releasing white balloons to raise awareness of the nation’s commemoration of November 7th as National Cancer Awareness Day.
