The three-day 20th International Foodtech Kolkata 2023, Eastern India’s Premier business to business (B2B) Exhibition for food processing, bakery, mithai & namkeen and hospitality industry, was inaugurated at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan.

Mr. Rahul Chowrashia, Chairman – Mishti Udyog, Mr. Jatinder Kapur of N K Kapur & Co Pvt Ltd, Mr. Aisf Ahmed, Treasurer, National Restaurant Association of India, Mr. Zakir Hossain, Chief Convener of 20th International Foodtech 2023, Mr. Jayant Kr. Aikat IAS, Commissioner – Department of Food Processing Industries, Government of West Bengal and Mr. Aseem Soni, CEO, Mio Amore graced the inauguration ceremony.

The International Foodtech Kolkata 2023 will cover the full spectrum of the food industry and ancillary services, including food and beverages, food processing machinery and equipment, food packaging, cold storage systems, waste management systems, bakery and confectionery equipment, ice cream making machines and plants, edible oils, spices, essences, colourants, industrial refrigeration, industrial kitchen equipment, glass and glassware, tableware, facilitators (banks and other financial institutions), and facilitators (government agencies and other nongovernmental organisations).

A growing worldwide food problem has increased the significance of the International Foodtech Kolkata 2023 Exhibition. The necessity for cutting-edge food technology and processes that address factors of price, efficiency, and waste loss has grown crucial as food security becomes a serious worldwide concern.

The event saw participation of over 180 major foreign and Indian companies and leading brands from the food and hospitality sector. Also participating are Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India, West Bengal Bakery Association, All India Food Processors Association, West Bengal Bakers Coordination Committee, Paschimbanga Misti Udyog and others.

The mega-exhibition this year showcases these new processes, technologies, and practises and gathers under one roof the most cutting-edge machinery for manufacturing and packaging food, as well as the best procedures and techniques in the financial and business sectors.

This year, the emphasis is on the bakery, mithai, and namkeen industries, with live demonstrations including training in cake making, a hi-tech rosogolla production demonstration, and food packaging with little human contact.

The West Bengal food and product market, which is enormous and has enormous future potential, is supported by a strong rail and road infrastructure. To keep up with the international packaging requirements, there is work to be done in the packaging industry.

West Bengal exports food items, particularly processed fish, to Saarc and far-east nations. The state government is also helping and advising young students on how to obtain financing, licences, grasp hygiene and food safety processes and regulations, and other matters so that they can create thorough project reports to launch their own businesses.

The exhibition would continue till 20 August (10 am to 6 pm) at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan.
