3rd B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition Starts On A Great Note

The third edition of the B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition, an annual celebration of the lasting legacy of Balkrishna V. Doshi, India’s first Pritzker laureate, was inaugurated at Rangmanch, Raajkutir, by Ambuja Neotia Group. This year’s exhibition highlights the work of architect Madhusudhan Chalasani, Founder and Principal Architect of MADe, in keeping with the organization’s mission to honor architects whose work demonstrates excellence, integrity, and a profound engagement with society.
Shri Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group, said, “The B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition was designed to carry on the discussions he sparked as well as to honor a remarkable architect. We honor architecture that puts people first, thoughtfully interacts with the public sphere, and makes a significant contribution to society through this year’s exhibition and the Prabir Mitra Memorial Award”.

The exhibition, titled In Pursuit of Publicness, examines Madhusudhan Chalasani and MADe’s sustainable investigation into architecture as a framework for communal life. The exhibition explores how architecture can create spaces that are open, flexible, and closely linked to the public sphere through both built and unbuilt projects, drawings, models, and research.
Ar. Madhusudhan Chalasani said, “Publicness is not declared but constructed—through voids, thresholds, and streets that allow the city to continue through a building. In honor of an architect who saw built form as a backdrop for shared life, this exhibition compiles nearly two decades of that endeavor, most of it unrealized”.

The occasion was graced by veteran architect Rajeev Kathpalia, Partner at Vastu Shilpa Consultants and close associate of B.V. Doshi, and Radhika Doshi, daughter of B.V. Doshi and wife of Rajeev Kathpalia.
The most promising architect whose work exhibits design excellence, responsible practice, and a significant contribution to the built environment was recognized with the prestigious 2nd Prabir Mitra Memorial Award, which was presented in honor of renowned architect Prabir Mitra. Architects Abin Chaudhuri, Vivek Singh Rathore, Pritthijit Kundu, Partha Ranjan Das, and Subir Kumar Basu made up the distinguished jury panel that selected Udit Mittal, principal architect and co-founder of QX Design, as this year’s winner.

The evening reaffirmed Ambuja Neotia Group’s dedication to fostering architectural discourse and acknowledging practices that shape better cities and richer public life by bringing together architects, designers, students, academicians, and cultural thinkers.
The exhibition will remain open at Kalavaani, Swabhumi, from 23rd August to 6th September 2026, Monday to Thursday: 4 pm – 8 pm, Friday to Sunday: 12 pm – 8 pm.
