Special Service To Pilgrims At Tarakeswar Medical Camp

Upholding the noble ideal that Service to pilgrims is service to God, a month-long, round-the-clock medical camp concluded successfully outside the Tarakeswar railway station. Organized during the holy month of Shravana, the initiative provided free health check-ups and primary medical care to thousands of devotees.
The initiative brought together several compassionate leaders to realize the vision of social worker Pinaki Ganguly, who firmly believes that “Every living entity is an inherent manifestation of the divine Supreme Consciousness”. Guided by the principle that true service is an act of active worship directed toward the divine presence within others, the camp was spearheaded by:
- Swami Gyanananda Maharaj of Bamunia Sannyas Ashram, Goghat, Hooghly
- Ganesh Chakraborty, prominent social worker
- Tarakeswar Temple Committee
- Kolkata Heart Lung Centre, under the leadership of Director and Senior Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Arnab Maity
The grand closing ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed figures, including Swami Gyanananda Maharaj, Dr. Arnab Maity, Ganesh Chakraborty, Swami Akshayanananda Puri Maharaj of Darjeeling Ramakrishna Mission, and RPF Officer R.K. Gupta, alongside other dignitaries. The entire month-long event was efficiently coordinated by Ranjan Chongdar on behalf of the Tarakeswar Temple management.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arnab Maity said, “Human service is truly the worship of the Supreme. Keeping this ideal, our dedicated medical team worked day and night to provide emergency medical care to thousands of remote devotees”. He also extended heartfelt gratitude to all organizers, RPF officials, and collaborative partners.
Ganesh Chakraborty announced plans to expand the initiative on a larger scale next year. Swami Gyanananda Maharaj noted that this selfless month of service has inspired the entire Hooghly district to undertake year-round welfare activities.
Ultimately, the camp stood as a shining example of how compassion and community collaboration can successfully transform altruistic vision into life-saving reality.
