India still has around 3 million sex workers living in its major cities, with Sonagachi in Kolkata being the largest red-light district in Asia, according to the most recent official figure. While it’s true that some sex workers fall victim to trafficking, others actively choose to engage in the profession because of the superior pay and job prospects. Sex workers and their children are marginalized by the severe societal stigma associated with the flesh trade, which results in the denial of essential rights including access to education and knowledge, health care, housing, social security, and freedom from mental and physical violence.

Project Udaan, which operates under the umbrella of VVMVP, launched its #ShikshaSeUdaan campaign in collaboration with The Art of Living Foundation on this Children’s Day. India observes Children’s Day to promote awareness of the rights, care, and education of children. The future leaders of this world are the children of sex workers, just like all other children. These kids are routinely shunned and stigmatized in schools, playgrounds, and other public places because of their mother’s occupations. The only way for these kids to become visible and live honorable lives is via education. Through the campaign, the charity hopes to spread awareness of the value of education for the children of sex workers and make a lasting effect.

Many ladies are pursuing their studies and working arduously to improve their lifestyles thanks to the tutorials offered by the organization. Jyoti, a girl in class X, is currently receiving official yoga instruction in addition to academic instruction. Under the guidance of other professionals, she also serves as a mentor for other Udaan Dance Troupe youth. She decided to depart Sonagachi in order to help her family. In order for the Udaan dance group to perform and showcase their talent on a national and worldwide level, she now aims to successfully mentor and guide them.

Tnsuree Chakraborty, an actor, and philanthropist commented on the considerate endeavor by saying, “I am glad to be connected with such a cause. I had a deep sense of connection to the project and would like to offer any help I can. I will raise awareness of the Shiksha Se Udaan campaign by promoting it across all of my social media channels. By doing this, we can inspire people to support our efforts and change the lives of the young children who reside in brothels”.
