After investigating cases in Bangalore, Dhaka, Shantiniketan, and other places, Eken Babu is finally in Kolkata. The web series Eken Babu Ebar Kolkatay will show the iconic detective in Kolkata where he will be solving a case.

A press conference was organized to announce this upcoming web series. Gracing the occasion was Anirban Chakrabarti, director Joydeep Mukherjee and author of the Eken Babu novels, Sujan Dasgupta.

“When I began writing the web series, my description of Eken Babu was different from what was developed in the series or films. The interesting fact is that now when I sit down to write the stories of Eken, Anirban’s face comes into front of my eyes. This is quite a dilemma that I have been facing” said the author.

The director said “Eken Babu will be seen gorging more on food in this series. He is a foodie and we all know that very well. However, in this series, he will be seen going to different places and gorging on yummy delicacies. There will be a crime to investigate for sure”.

Anirban Chakrabarti said “The love that we have got in the span of four years has been immeasurable. It is due to this love that so many seasons and a film have already been made. Initially, when the look test was conducted, they tried on many things to get the look right. They made me wear spectacles and so on. However, the final look selected is the one that the audience sees now. I am thankful for the love and appreciation from the audiences”.

The actor also revealed that he has not read the Eken Babu stories before starring in the series.

Somak Ghosh and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay will be seen in the role of Promotho and Bapi in the series.

The web series is eyeing for release during Christmas.
