Indian Chamber of Commerce organized an interactive session on Vikshit Bharat @2047 with the Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The event was also graced by Mrs. Smita Bajoria, Founder, of Edunet Foundation & Director, S. K. Bajoria Group, Mr. Pradeep Sureka, Past President, Indian Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General, Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Hon’ble Minster of External Affairs, Government of India, said, “I’m especially happy to discuss my ideas on this topic today since it’s relevant and important: the path towards a resurgent India. We have decisions to make at this pivotal point that have the potential to greatly speed up our advancement toward this goal. After ten years of consistent performance, we have now established a firm platform for our country to move into higher gear. Strong leadership, a thorough grasp of global dynamics, and a clear vision are necessary for this trip. It’s a path of modernization, change, and striking a careful balance between tradition and technology. Our country’s future will be shaped by the decisions we make now for years to come”.

“It is critical that we act with clarity, decisiveness, and unflinching support for our chosen course. Our goals are lofty: we want to grow the economy to $52.5 trillion in the long run, from a $5 trillion one shortly. Though the journey consists of more than just economic measurements, these figures serve as benchmarks. Increasing our competitiveness globally and fortifying our domestic capabilities are mutually exclusive goals. Having solid home bases enables us to make use of resources, finance, and technology to succeed globally. Therefore, overcoming obstacles like decades of socialist policies, a growth-averse mentality, and governance flaws calls for cooperation and a break from complacency” added Dr. Jaishankar.

“We’ve maintained a strong growth rate in the face of uncertainty around the world, proving our resiliency and self-control under trying circumstances. We have seen real outcomes from our focus on infrastructure development, technology adoption, and ease of doing business. The revival of manufacturing is essential. Space exploration, semiconductors, electric cars, green technology, artificial intelligence, and these sectors will all influence the future of the economy. To take advantage of these prospects, infrastructure improvements, support for self-employment, and educational reforms are essential. In terms of foreign policy, we are concentrating on utilizing global resources, reestablishing connectivity, establishing relationships and trust, and luring international capital and talent. Our efforts to improve connectivity and regional collaboration are demonstrated by projects like the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway and the International North-South Transport Corridor. Nonetheless, the path to a revived India is complex and ever-changing” said Dr. Jaishankar.

Dr. Jaishankar concluded by saying that despite challenges, the government’s commitment to progress is unwavering and he believed that the future holds immense potential for India’s development.
