Its status as one of TV9 Bangla’s flagship properties was further reinforced by the recently concluded TV9 Bangla Nakshatra Samman event in Kolkata, which featured motivational tales of success and resiliency. Nakshatra Samman has developed into a prestigious award throughout the TV9 Network over time. Nine outstanding Nakshatras were recognized this year for their outstanding work in a variety of fields.

The most renowned tennis player, Leander Paes, was honored with Nakshatra Samman’s Lifetime Achievement Award this year as well. Paes rose to national prominence following his Olympic feat in 1996 and was recognized for his remarkable career spanning over three decades, including multiple Grand Slam victories. Nakshatra Samman continues to be recognized as a newsmaker.

Others included Dhriti Banerjee, the first female director of the Zoological Survey of India, who marked a significant milestone in the organization’s 110-year history; Anuparna Roy, a well-known filmmaker whose debut feature “Songs of the Forgotten Trees” won international recognition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival under the Orizzonti (Horizon) section; and Bharat Sevashram Sangha, which has provided humanitarian efforts during crises like Cyclone Aila and COVID-19.

Leander Paes said, “I am happy that TV9 Bangla has honored me today. I’m grateful to TV9 Bangla. Today, TV9 Bangla’s efforts to honor our great Bengalis would have made my great-great-grandfather, Michael Madhusudan Dutta, extremely proud. I was just observing the great achievers while paying tribute to Bengali culture. These cultures are abundant in Bengal. We should do more to honor these cultures. We must honor our Bengali ancestry. One of my favorite female athletes in the world, Jhulan Goswami, is right here on stage with me. She is a fantastic Bengali star, in my opinion. She always represents Bengal when she goes out into the world”.
