New Musical Drama Parasmani To Start Shooting Soon

Renowned Indian filmmaker Gul Bahar Singh, a six-time National Award winner, is returning to direct his new musical drama Parasmani. The film explores friendship, freedom, rebellion, love, and relationship complexities in modern society, alongside themes of women’s emancipation and upliftment.
Produced by Prateek Vaswani under the banner of Scene and Soul Entertainment, the cast of the film consists of Shritama Mitra, Rahul Ganguly, Ankita Brahma, Aishiki Ghatak, Aditi Bishnu, Ipshita Nag, Kharaj Mukherjee and Kaushik Sen.
The film’s music will be composed by Surojit Chatterjee, Hirju Roy and Chandan Roy Choudhury.
Gul Bahar Singh, noted for his unique narrative style and socially aware filmmaking, depicts the emotional paths of five women who defy social norms while negotiating complex feelings about love, trust, and self-reliance.
At the core of Parasmani are five educated young women from middle-class families who have faced the difficulties of a male-dominated society. Faced with emotional betrayal, exploitation, and injustice, they find strength in their shared passion for music and choose to form the all-girl band Parasmani.
Their collective struggles initially expressed evolve into an independent path of self-discovery. These five women, whose music grows in popularity and whose performances draw audiences, now stand as symbols of confidence, individuality, and resilience.
Despite their shared pain, they pledge to avoid love and romance to protect their independence. Yet existence seldom aligns with personal standards, and affection often tests firm beliefs.
In this intriguing premise, Parasmani examines the fine line between personal freedom and emotional vulnerability, asking if love and independence truly must oppose one another.
The film will start production in October 2026 and hit theaters in early 2027.
