The organization Eye Within Art is set to host Eastern India’s inaugural art auction, marking a significant milestone in its thirty-year history of cultural preservation. The event is designed to celebrate the region’s rich artistic heritage while providing a platform for both local and modern masterworks.

A pre-auction press meet was held at The Eye Within Club in the presence of Samir Aich, Shuvaprasanna, Sanatan Dinda, and Tapas Sarkar.

This underscores the auction’s regional prestige and the support it has garnered within the local artistic community.

The focal point of this auction is a historically rare autograph book belonging to Geeta Roy, who was a renowned singer and the wife of the celebrated Bengal School artist Prasanta Roy. This artifact is of profound cultural importance as it contains personal notes and original writings from eminent luminaries of the era, such as Rabindranath Tagore and Abanindranath Tagore.

Beyond this centerpiece, the auction emphasizes the contribution of distinguished Bengal painters and other major modern masters. By curating these specific pieces, Eye Within Art aims to provide collectors with a tangible connection to what is described as the creative pulse of Bengal’s Golden Age.

The event is structured to facilitate broad participation through a hybrid approach:

Live Preview: Potential bidders and enthusiasts can view the collection in person on July 16–17, 2026, at the JW Marriott Kolkata.

Auction Format: The auction itself will be conducted entirely in a digital format from July 16–18, 2026, enabling global participation.

Accessibility: Interested parties are directed to the official website, www.eyewithinart.com, for event registration and to view the full online catalogue.

Eye Within Art’s decision to launch this inaugural auction using a digital-first strategy demonstrates an intent to modernize the regional art market while honoring traditional, historical narratives. By bridging the gap between physical historical artifacts and contemporary digital accessibility, the organization is positioning itself as a vital curator for both seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts looking to invest in the cultural legacy of Bengal.
