GHUN GAON– CHAPTER 1 brought its gloomy and enigmatic world off-screen with The Canvas of Secrets, a specially planned event held at Cafe Bong, Hindustan Park, Kolkata. A wooden canvas, a few cryptic clues, and a village unwilling to reveal its secrets. Without revealing its mystery, The Event provided a peek into the eerie world of the movie.

The actors turned the specially made wooden canvas into a trail of clues, leaving behind words and symbols associated with the characters they played, rather than disclosing typical character details.

Fear, betrayal, retaliation, and trust.

There was a hint in every stroke. Each hint pointed to a secret. However, the answers were purposefully kept secret.

Ranojoy Bishnu, Sankar Debnath, Rohini Chatterjee and Soumya Majumdar, along with director Soumya Roy Choudhury and other members of the cast and crew, graced the event.

GHUN GAON– CHAPTER 1, which is directed by Soumya Roy Choudhury and produced by Cinekrazy Entertainment, delves into the eerie world of an apparently peaceful village where hidden truths, deceit, and shattered trust gradually come to light. Every character has something to reveal and something they would prefer to keep hidden, so what at first glance seems familiar quickly becomes unexpected.

“GHUN GAON is a story where nothing is quite what it appears to be. Each character has both things they purposefully conceal and things they reveal. The audience can see the hints on the wooden canvas, but deciphering their true meaning is a different matter. I think this kind of dark thriller will be seen by Bengali audiences for the first time,” said the director.

The music is composed by Tunai Debasish Ganguly. The songs have been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Timir Biswas, Sayantani Ghosh and Srishti Rawani, with lyrics penned by Pramit Ghosh.

The Canvas of Secrets evolved from a promotional reveal to a continuation of the movie’s narrative. The cast left their imprints, the hints emerged, but their meanings remained hidden, reflecting a movie in which every seeming reality might be concealing a deeper level.

The mystery is only getting deeper as GHUN GAON– CHAPTER 1 approaches its theatrical release. The movie transports viewers to a world where appearances are deceitful, and trust has a cost, with each character defending a truth and each clue leading to another secret. The village is still clinging to its darkest secrets, even though the canvas may hold the answers.

GHUN GAON– CHAPTER 1 is set for release on 11th September 2026.
