Spanning from an energetic patriotic comedy to a classic Sooraj Barjatya-style family musical, Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming projects highlight his versatile range across genres. Ayushmann Khurrana is preparing to re-enter the big screen with two consecutive releases that could not be more distinct.

First up is Udta Teer, a fast-paced patriotic comedy starring Sara Ali Khan and directed by Aakash Kaushik, followed by Yeh Prem Mol Liya, a musical family drama directed by Sooraj Barjatya and featuring Sharvari. Two films, two separate worlds, and two very different acting roles highlight a key facet of Ayushmann’s career from the start: his skill in transitioning across genres without being confined to any single one.

Udta Teer, directed by Aakash Kaushik and produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, unfolds in a world of espionage and comic chaos, with Ayushmann at its unpredictable core, where no one quite understands what’s happening.

Shortly after, Ayushmann will step into a completely new cinematic universe with Yeh Prem Mol Liya. Sooraj Barjatya directs this film, which features a new collaboration with Sharvari and combines the director’s trademark emotionally resonant, family-centered narratives with a robust musical element. Featuring music by Himesh Reshammiya, the film marks Ayushmann’s return to the emotional and musical language of Hindi cinema, centered on themes of love, family, and relationships.

Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Since my very first film, I’ve aimed to astonish audiences and, more crucially, to astonish myself as an actor. I’ve never felt limited by sticking to one type of role or genre, whether it’s a social comedy, an offbeat romance, a gripping drama, or a musical family tale; each film lets me dive into fresh emotions and uncover a new facet of who I am. It’s truly special that audiences have welcomed me despite these ongoing changes. I hope to keep taking risks, selecting stories that push me and delivering performances that leave audiences guessing”.

“What excites me most is the uncertainty of the journey. I want each film to feel like a fresh chapter, introducing a new world, a different rhythm, and a new iteration of myself. Udta Teer and Yeh Prem Mol Liya are entirely distinct experiences, and it’s precisely that contrast that attracted me to them. One lets me delve into the wild and funny side of a genre-defying, unprecedented patriotic comedy, while the other draws me into the tenderness, emotion, and music of a family drama. For me, versatility isn’t just about switching genres; it’s about uncovering the truth behind every character and ensuring the audience experiences something fresh every time they see me on screen,” said the actor.

This capacity to adapt has been at the core of Ayushmann’s journey from the start. His filmography has continually spanned a wide range of genres and formats, from unconventional protagonists and social comedies to romance, drama, action, and now patriotic comedies and musical family dramas, among others. Ayushmann has turned unpredictability into his hallmark. Few actors are willing to take on such diverse roles. Ayushmann has maintained this consistency, and audiences have come to rely on his versatility rather than anticipate a repeat performance.
