Minor Hotels Now Expands Anantara Hotels & Resorts In India

The Anantara Kolkata Hotel has joined Minor Hotels, increasing the luxury brand’s footprint in Kolkata, one of India’s biggest cities and a developing MICE destination. The hotel is set to open in 2032 as a component of the World Trade Center (WTC) Salt Lake Kolkata.
The 11-acre mixed-use development, which includes Grade A premium offices and retail space, is anchored by Anantara Kolkata, which is situated in Sector V (Salt Lake City). The project supports the city’s ongoing eastward expansion and represents the first World Trade Center in eastern India. Travelers from both domestic and foreign countries will have easy access to WTC Salt Lake, which is about ten kilometers from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Due to its proximity to upscale residential areas, Sector V, a well-known IT and corporate hub with a significant concentration of domestic and international businesses, is positioned as a powerful demand driver for both business and leisure hospitality.

Anantara Kolkata will have about 170 guest rooms and suites, two restaurants (a specialty rooftop restaurant and an all-day dining area), and a lobby lounge. The hotel’s amenities include a gym, swimming pool, Anantara Spa and wellness center, and flexible meeting spaces like a ballroom to meet the city’s increasing MICE demand.
“Signing Anantara Kolkata as our first urban Anantara in India represents an important step in our growth in the country and reflects the brand’s versatility across both city and resort settings. We are eager to build a hotel that complements the scope and aspirations of the World Trade Center project,” said Mr. William Heinecke, Founder and Chairman of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels.
The World Trade Center Salt Lake is a joint venture between Aryan Realty and Merlin Group.

“Our collaboration with Minor Hotels and the launch of Anantara at WTC marks a significant step in shaping a destination that not only meets international benchmarks but also redefines how business and hospitality converge in Eastern India,” said Mr. Sushil Mohta, Chairman of Merlin Group.
Following the signing of its first Avani-branded property, Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort, and Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort, the nation’s first Anantara-branded resort, Anantara Kolkata, is the most recent addition to Minor Hotels’ expanding portfolio in India. In 2028, both properties are scheduled to open. Within the next ten years, the group plans to grow from its single property, the Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur Hotel, which has been open since 2025, to fifty.
