The Bose Files—Sach Ya Sazish, a historical feature film directed by Rajesh Gupta (IITian), explores one of India’s most persistent historical riddles through a gripping narrative and up-to-date research. The film examines the issues surrounding the widely publicized story of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s death in a plane crash in 1945, including claims that information was withheld and the involvement of succeeding governments and intelligence services. It does this by drawing on documents, witness accounts, and conflicting narratives. Through this voyage, the film aims to revive public interest in Netaji’s remarkable legacy and the unresolved issues surrounding his disappearance.

The cast consists of Yatin Karyekar as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Amit Behl as an IB officer. Virendra Saxena, Akhilendra Mishra, Apoorva Arora, Akashdeep Arora, Rajeev Kumar and Kashvi Grover are also part of the cast.

Inspired by the well-researched writings of numerous authors, the film underwent a rigorous certification procedure before receiving censor permission, which was a major turning point in its big-screen adventure. As Creative Advisor, Prashant Singhania, a former civil servant, contributes his viewpoint to a project focused on public institutions, historical research, and the lasting significance of Netaji’s legacy.

Two resolute truth-seekers are at the center of the narrative. A researcher who has been working mostly alone to solve the enigma for more than 20 years. A new generation challenging the gaps in the historical narrative is represented by another young girl who is driven by an unwavering determination to learn the truth. Their paths come together to create an inspiring tale of tenacity, bravery, and the pursuit of justice.

The project is another important milestone in Rajesh Gupta’s filmmaking career, which also includes the critically acclaimed short films Chaddi Buddies and The Flat, which together won 12 awards, and the Hindi feature Unlock Zindagi (2022), which was chosen for 13 international film festivals and won Best Narrative Feature Film awards in Milan, Mexico, and Boston.

It was about posing issues that people had been asking for generations and telling a tale that inspired viewers to ponder, consider, and investigate. For all of us, reaching this point after conquering every challenge made it immensely significant”.

Real Reels Production hopes to rekindle discussions about Netaji’s remarkable legacy, the intricacies of historical memory, and the significance of posing challenging questions with The Bose Files – Sach Ya Sazish. The movie challenges viewers, particularly younger ones, to see past well-known stories and interact with a part of India’s liberation fight that still sparks interest and discussion.

The film has already been released in theatres.
