Arpita Chatterjee will be seen in the role of a mother in director Arjunn Dutta’s much acclaimed film Abyakto. The film will be releasing in Kolkata on 31st January. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the actress in an exclusive chat about her experiences of shooting the film. Excerpts..

You will be seen portraying two ages of a woman. How much challenging was it portray two different ages in a single film?

Arpita Chatterjee- It was a bit challenging as I had to portray 2 different ages- early 30s and 50s. My director did not want the use of any prosthetics and hence it was difficult to portray the 50s. However I took the challenge and I have given it my best shot.

You are a super-mom in your real life. Did you draw any real life experience to portray the character on screen?

Arpita Chatterjee- It is hard to say which experience I have used to portray the character in the film. As an actor, I have always used my real life experiences of observing people and used some traits of them in the characters I play. That helps to enrich the character.

Arjunn is a new director. Which aspect of the story made you agree to the film?

Arpita Chatterjee- I always select the story based on four aspects- story, script, character and my vision with the character. All these things were there in this film. And the other plus point was that Arjunn’s story was simple and very honest just like him. That attracted me and I said yes to the film.

You worked with seasoned actor like Adil Hussain and also with newcomer Anubhav. How was the experience?

Arpita Chatterjee- Working with Adil Hussain was a huge learning experience for me. I will like to work with him again.

As for Anubhav, he had a great responsibility in this film and he did a good job which is proved by the appreciation that he is getting. He is from Delhi but his father is a theatre personality. And he has also done theatre. I believe theatre completes an actor. Anubhav did a good job in the film.

Is there anything that have remained unsaid or Abyakto in your life?

Arpita Chatterjee- A lot of things actually!!! (smiles)

What is your expectation from the film?

Arpita Chatterjee- Like every other film that I have done, I also want this film to do well. A lot of people have toiled hard to make this film. If the film works well, it is a good for all of them. Plus it is also good for the producer too who have invested money in making the film. So I hope that Abyakto does well.

We too hope that Abyakto does extremely well at the box office and receives great appreciation from the audience!!
