Techno India University inaugurated the AIC Techno-Atal Incubation Centre, the state’s first Atal Incubation Centre created under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, marking a significant step towards bolstering West Bengal’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The Centre was established with the goal of promoting West Bengal as a premier centre for innovation-driven growth while fostering entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, and changemakers.

The inauguration was graced by Dr. Ashok Lahiri, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog; Swapan Dasgupta, Minister-in-Charge, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal; Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur; Meghdut RoyChowdhury, Executive Director & Chief Innovation Officer, Techno India Group, Chief Mentor, AIC Techno and Founder, Make Calcutta Relevant Again; and members of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India.

AIC Techno was envisioned as a top-tier incubation platform committed to turning creative concepts into scalable enterprises under the direction of Meghdut RoyChowdhury. Techno India University’s dedication to promoting entrepreneurship, industry collaboration, research, and technology-led innovation while supporting India’s expanding startup ecosystem is reflected in the Centre.

AIC Techno will offer entrepreneurs end-to-end support through strategic mentorship, business advisory services, investor readiness, funding access, product validation, market linkages, legal and intellectual property support, corporate partnerships, workshops, masterclasses, business clinics, and networking opportunities as part of its ambitious goal to incubate over 500 startups over the next five years.

Even before its official launch, AIC Techno received nearly 200 startup applications, highlighting the enthusiasm among aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators throughout the region and demonstrating the strong demand for structured incubation support in the state.

The Centre will unite academia, industry, investors, policymakers, and innovators under a single collaborative platform to support entrepreneurs at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey, from idea validation and prototype development to market entry and business scale-up. Its incubation framework was created to speed innovation, commercialization, and long-term growth while assisting startups in developing sustainable business models.

As a reflection of the scope and long-term goals of the project, AIC Techno has started assembling its core team in addition to incubating startups. It has also invited applications for leadership and functional roles in incubation, operations, finance, legal, partnerships, programs, investments, administration, and lab and makerspace management.

The establishment of AIC Techno is a significant turning point in West Bengal’s startup history and demonstrates Techno India University’s dedication to promoting entrepreneurship driven by innovation. The University seeks to turn ground-breaking concepts into globally competitive businesses by establishing an enabling ecosystem for founders, researchers, and innovators. This will support economic expansion, job creation, and India’s goal of becoming a global innovation powerhouse.
