Satyajit Ray’s ‘Hatyapuri’ is a murder thriller where the vacation of Feluda, Jatayu, and Topshe is upturned when they discover an unidentified dead body on the beach. Feluda is inquisitive and sets out to find the truth. As Feluda’s investigation unfolds, the murder leads the trio to someone named D.G Sen- who has a passion for collecting rare manuscripts. What happens next?

The trailer launch of Hatyapuri took place at The Bhawanipur House in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

The lead cast features Paran Bandopadhyay, Indraneil Sengupta as Feluda, Abhijit Guha as Jatayu aka Lalmohan Ganguly, Ayush Das as the new Topse, and Saheb Chatterjee and Bharat Kaul among others.

The audiences are waiting with anticipation as to how Indraneil Sengupta, Abhijit Guha, and Ayush Das will slip into the roles of these iconic literary characters.

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Abhijit Guha said “I have been questioned by many people as to how I prepared myself to play the role of Jatayu. I have seen films on Feluda, and read the stories. However, before I started shooting I did not read or watch the films. I surrendered myself to Sandip Ray. I read the scripts a couple of times and I did what he asked me to do. I do not think that you will dislike me”.

The music of ‘Hatyapuri’ is composed by Sandip Ray himself. Shashanka Palit is the cinematographer for the film.

Sandip Ray said “I loved the new Feluda, Topse, and Jatayu. I had a great time shooting with them. I had worked with some members of the cast previously while I worked with some for the first time. It has always been a pleasure to direct a Feluda film and this is no exception”.

Paran Bandopadhyay referred to the Feluda films as Nolen Gur which most Bengalis look forward to with the advent of the winter season. “I cannot say that long live Feluda. Because we all know that Feluda is immortal and generation after generation will love this sleuth” said the veteran actor.

Indraneil who had always wanted to play the role of Feluda thanked Sandip Ray for considering him to play this part.

‘Hatyapuri’ has mostly been shot in different parts of Kolkata and Puri.

The movie is presented by Ghoshal Media & Entertainment, and Shadow Films is the associate producer of the film.

The film will release on 23rd December on single screens and multiplexes in Kolkata.
