Some love stories simply stop at a hillside bend, but they never truly end. Director Suman Maitra returns with his eagerly anticipated film Zariyaa 2, which features one such halted love story. Since the release of the movie’s first look poster, Tollywood has been in a frenzy as Rishav and Shreyasini return with their incomplete journey.

Animesh Ganguly is producing the movie under the Beljar Films banner. Zariyaa 2 will recount the tale seven years after the first film, Zariyaa, made a lasting impression with its straightforward and endearing love tale.

There are only two days in the story. Rishav and Shreyasini unexpectedly cross paths in a misty Darjeeling valley seven years after their breakup. They used to be inseparable, but now they are strangers. They had become estranged due to miscommunications and events. With just 48 hours remaining, Shreyasini is set to relocate overseas.

They revisit their past during these 48 hours. Their laughter, tears, ego, and unsaid words resurface amid the chilly mountain breeze, wet roads, orange orchards, and quiet scenery.

Director Suman Maitra said, “Zariyaa was a tale about the first touch and falling in love. And living that love is the theme of Zariyaa 2. I wanted to depict how two people view one another following a breakup and how they cling to their memories and egos. Darjeeling is more than just a setting in this movie; the mountain itself is a character. The relationship between Rishav and Shreyasini is reflected in its height, coldness, and silence”.

Shreema Bhattacherjee will play Shreyasini, and Rajeshwar will play Rishav. After seven years, the director is relying on their chemistry to show two developed characters. That mature warmth is captured in the poster itself, with lips that are silent but eyes that speak loudly. The film’s USP is expected to be this chemistry.

The background score is another important aspect of the movie. The song composed by music director Debdeep Banik will serve as a third language between the characters’ unspoken words and the quiet of the hills.

Zariyaa 2 is designed for people who love mountains and think that some love never fades. It is based on the idea of “Love, loss, friendship, and those memories that never get old”.

The film is set to release on 26th September.
