Music Of Upcoming Bengali Film The Second Wish Is Out Now

The curtains have risen on an evocative cinematic endeavor with the recent music launch of the upcoming film, The Second Wish. Directed by Pradip Biswas and produced under the banner of SS Entertainment, this project promises to be more than just a piece of entertainment; it is a poignant reflection on childhood innocence, social inequality, and the transformative power of empathy.
The film’s narrative is deeply rooted in the harsh realities of rural life. It follows the lives of two young boys, Rabi and Dulu, who struggle to keep pace with their classmates, not due to a lack of intellect, but due to the gnawing hunger caused by extreme poverty. Their teacher, Tapan Babu, acts as a bridge between their bleak reality and a glimmer of hope. The story masterfully intertwines their journey—a whimsical quest to find the King of Ghosts to ask for a steady supply of food—with the domestic struggles of Tapan Babu, whose obsession with social status leads to the tragic separation of his daughter, Diya, and her beloved, the struggling teacher Sajal.
What elevates The Second Wish is its shift from personal desire to collective good. When the boys realize they have two wishes, their innocence leads them to a profound conclusion: they wish for every child in the world to be well-fed. This moral pivot serves as a tribute to the success of the Mid-Day Meal scheme, highlighting how systemic change can salvage childhoods and ensure that no child’s education is compromised by an empty stomach.
The music launch event showcased the soulful compositions of Music Director Ankur Dutta, which aim to capture the film’s blend of melancholy and optimism. The film features a notable cast, including Durnibar Majumder and Krishan Naskar, as well as a special character portrayal by Adhiraj Ganguly.
While the film acknowledges current global challenges—such as India’s standing on the Global Hunger Index—it emphasizes a narrative of progress. The Second Wish stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It is a cinematic call to action, hoping for a world where necessities are a right, not a privilege, and where love is never sacrificed at the altar of financial greed.
