The 5th State Level Sports and Cultural Meet will be organized in Kolkata. A press meet was organized in the august presence of Janab Siddiqullah Chowdhury, Hon’ble Minister of State, Subrata Bhattacharya, former footballer and Arjuna awardee, Shankarlal Chakraborty, former coach of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club and other dignitaries.

The meet began in 2014 and this is the fifth year of the event. The two day event will be a sports competition among the inmates of child welfare homes. A cultural program has also been scheduled. Around 900 children from 50 institutions have been enlisted for the sports meet.

There are 32 events in the sports meet which include 100 metre dash, 200 metre run, high jump, long jump and others. Winners of each game will be felicitated with awards while a talent hunt will be organized later only for the champions and the selected ones will get a direct recruitment to Sports Authority of India (SAI).

State Level Sports and Cultural Meet 2019 will take place from 15th to 16th January 2019 at the sports complex of Sports Authority of India, Salt Lake.
