Celebrating the grandeur of Durga Puja, Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport unveiled an iconic, 7.5-foot-tall Chocolate Durga idol in a heartfelt ceremony. The one-of-a-kind creation was officially revealed by legendary actor Mr. Mithun Chakraborty—Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee, and Cultural Advisor to the Government of West Bengal. Joining him as the evening’s special guests of honor were the children of Future Hope, an NGO dedicated to providing shelter, education, healthcare, and food to vulnerable youth. The event was attended by Mr. Rishi Jain, Mr. Shrayans Jain, and the senior leadership team of Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport.

Crafted entirely from pure dark chocolate, this year’s idol stands as a magnificent tribute to Bengal’s rich artisanal heritage and the spirit of festive togetherness. Marking a landmark 10th edition, the sculpture was created under the leadership of veteran master craftsman Mr. Sujit Pal. Drawing on over 40 years of expertise from a legendary family of idol-makers—whose works have adorned celebrated community pujas like Baguiati Jora Mandir and traveled internationally to Glasgow—Mr. Pal directed a team of over 10 artisans in close collaboration with the expert culinary team at Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport to bring this cultural marvel to life.

The 7.5ft Pure Dark Chocolate Durga will remain on public display at Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport from 16th to 20th October 2026.

Capturing the festive spirit and culinary grandeur of Durga Puja, Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport introduced its specially curated ‘Durga Mandap 2026’ themed buffet, uniting the authentic flavors and cherished traditions of the season.
