Lake Club Kick-Starts 7th Edition Of Natyamela, 2023
Lake Club is all geared up for the 7th edition of Natyamela which will celebrate the rich culture of Bengal’s legacy of drama and art. Natyamela began its journey in 2015. Due to the pandemic, this could not be conducted for the last two years. The main idea behind organizing this theatre festival was to touch the lives of the people with hope and positivity.
On the inaugural day of the festival a panel discussion titled ‘Habib Ekai Eksho’ was organized to mark the birth centenary of the eminent theatre personality, poet, and actor, Late Habib Tanvir. A calendar of paintings by artist Hiran Mitra on Tanvir’s plays and stage decor was also published.
Renowned theater personalities, Ms.Nagin Tanvir (Daughter of Lt. Habib Tanvir), Mr.Rudraprasad Sengupta, Mr.Shamik Banerjee, Mr.Hiran Mitra, Mr.Arun Mukhopadhyay, Ms.Jayati Bose, Mr.Ramchandra Singh, Mr. Ashok Mukhopadhyay, Mr. Meghnad Bhattacharya, Mr. Suman Mukhopadhyay took part in the panel discussion.
The festival will begin with Lt. Habib Tanvir’s iconic theatre production, ‘Charandas Chor’.It will be staged by Tanvir’s own theatre group, Naya Theatre.
The festival will be on from 3rdJanuary-8thJanuary, 2023 at Lake Club, Kolkata from 7 pm. This year Hatibagan Sangharam’s Ekta Diblu Dilu Timtu Tilu Dub, Noye Notua’s – Borda Borda, Onno Theatre’s Pratham Rajnoitik Hatya, Sanskriti’s Sher Afghan, Chakdaha Natyajan’s Barricade and Mukhomukhi’s Typist will also be staged in the Natyamela.
As in the past, there will be book and handicraft kiosks within the club.
