The Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, laid the foundation stone for Amit Metaliks Limited’s upcoming integrated steel plant at Raghunathpur, Purulia, marking the start of one of the region’s major new industrial investments. This is a significant milestone for West Bengal’s industrial growth and Purulia’s economic transformation.

The project, which is expected to cost about Rs 4,000 crore, is an example of Amit Metaliks’ long-term dedication to West Bengal and its faith in Purulia’s ability to develop into a significant hub for employment, manufacturing, and economic activity.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance; Shri Tapas Roy, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Industry, Commerce and Enterprises; Smt. Agnimitra Paul, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs; Dr. Ajay Kumar Poddar, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Public Works and Public Health Engineering; and Shri Arjun Singh, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Transport and Labour; Smt. Moumita Biswas Misra, Hon’ble Minister of State, Industry, Commerce and Enterprises, and Shri Nadiar Chand Bouri, Hon’ble Minister of State, Public Works.

The occasion also witnessed the presence of Shri Jyotirmay Singh Mahato, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Purulia, along with several Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly from the district and surrounding regions, senior government officials, industry leaders, members of the local community and representatives of the media.

The proposed facility, which will span about 151 acres, is intended to be a state-of-the-art, fully integrated steel manufacturing complex with an annual production capacity of about 1.2 million tons. Over the next 1000 days, the project is anticipated to be finished.

In addition to providing substantial opportunities for local enterprise, ancillary industries, logistics, services, skill development, and small and medium-sized businesses throughout Purulia and the surrounding area, the investment is anticipated to generate about 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari praised the investment and emphasized the value of industrial development in generating jobs and economic opportunities throughout West Bengal during his speech at the foundation stone laying ceremony.

The new facility is intended to be an integrated steel plant, with a single ecosystem encompassing the entire manufacturing process from iron ore to finished, marketable steel.

Additionally, the plant will be able to produce specialized grades of steel for the automotive industry, enhancing West Bengal’s standing in the broader steel and manufacturing ecosystem and bringing higher value manufacturing capabilities to the area.

Since the project’s beginning, sustainability has been incorporated into its planning. One of the suggested projects is a floating solar power plant, which is expected to be one of the first for a West Bengal steel plant.

In the end, Amit Metaliks believes that the project is about more than just steel or production capacity. It stands for a commitment to build responsibly, generate opportunities locally, hone skills, fortify communities, and develop alongside Purulia and its people.

Now that the foundation stone has been laid, the promise’s journey from vision to reality has begun.
