The Hazra Park Durgotsab Committee officially commenced preparations for its milestone 84th edition with the auspicious Khuti Puja on Independence Day. Set against the rhythmic beats of the dhak and traditional chants, the ceremony marked the formal start of the pandal construction journey.

This year, the committee is set to captivate audiences with a profound and artistic theme titled Chirayat. The concept serves as a heartfelt tribute to Bengal’s enduring artistic heritage and timeless cultural traditions passed down through generations. By bridging the gap between the past and evolving cultural consciousness, the theme showcases traditional craftsmanship, artistic expressions, and the cultural values that have defined Bengal’s beauty for centuries. Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary Sayan Deb Chatterjee expressed immense enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations. He noted that the Khuti Puja symbolises a joyous and significant milestone as the committee steps into its 84th year. He emphasized that the Chirayat theme aims to reconnect the younger generation with Bengal’s deep-rooted heritage while presenting traditional values in a contemporary and meaningful way.

The upcoming pandal will feature a harmonious blend of art, heritage, tradition, and community spirit, making the Roots of Bengal visual narrative a major attraction for visitors. With the preparations now officially underway, the committee warmly invites art lovers and devotees from all walks of life to experience the soul, culture, and festive spirit of Bengal at Hazra Park this autumn.
