The Lions Club of Kolkata Grand inaugurated cutting-edge medical facilities at the Children’s Department of Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute (SGCCRI), Thakurpukur, as part of its flagship program, Pritam LIONATHON (Marathon Race), a major step towards improving childhood cancer care in Kolkata. The project was devoted to realizing the dream of the late Nitu Baid, Charter President of the Lions Club of Kolkata Grand, who wanted to establish a long-term support network for kids with cancer.

To improve young cancer patients’ comfort, dignity, and critical care support, the newly renovated facilities included a 21-bed General Ward and a 6-bed fully automated electric ICCU (Intensive Critical Care Unit). A.P. Singh, the international president of Lions Clubs International, inaugurated the General Ward, and Sangeeta Jatia, the former international director, inaugurated the ICCU.
