Rajatava Dutta As An Old Man In New Film Ekhane Proshab Koriben Na

The upcoming film Ekhane Proshab Koriben Na, which is set against the backdrop of an old North Kolkata neighborhood, blends humor, irony, and quiet human drama to turn an ordinary wall into an unusual emotional and social battleground.
Veteran actor Rajatava Dutta plays Nirmal Bhattacharya, an emotionally distant and obstinate old man who decides to protect”the collapsing wall in front of his ancestral home. For Nirmal, the wall is more than just a building; it represents identity, pride, and memories. His frequent run-ins with the locals become a daily ritual of defiance, mirroring his more profound battle with change and loneliness.

Sayan Ghosh’s portrayal of Babla, a carefree and streetwise local youth, brings contrast and chaos to his orderly world. Babla’s witty, erratic personality gradually starts to challenge Nirmal’s inflexible outlook, resulting in tense moments as well as unexpected connections. What starts as conflict gradually transforms into an uncomfortable, situation-shaped friendship.
Vaishakhi Roy’s portrayal of Minati completes this emotional triangle. Minati, a domestic helper and silent witness to Nirmal’s solitary existence, is a symbol of quiet fortitude. Her complex relationship with Nirmal contributes emotional depth by implying long-standing familiarity, care, and unspoken dependence that words frequently fall short of expressing.

The story begins with a straightforward written command on the wall, Ekhane Proshab Koriben Na, but it develops into a more comprehensive analysis of urban behavior, neglect, aging, and human dignity. What at first glance seems amusing turns into a moving examination of loneliness and emotional vulnerability in a city that is changing quickly.
The project is directed by Souvik Bhattacharya and produced by Idiots Box. Saptarshi Ghatak wrote the screenplay and dialogue, while Sourav Malakar wrote the story. Shubhodip Majumdar composed the background score and music, Gauravmay Banerjee edited the film, and Sudipto Majumdar directed the cinematography. The executive producer is Soumya Sengupta.

In the end, Ekhane Proshab Koriben Na transforms a plain wall into a potent metaphor where hurt and humor coexist, exposing the silent emotional struggles of daily existence.
