RUFCON 2026, the 8th National Conference of the Robotic Urology Forum (RUF), was formally inaugurated in Kolkata. The three-day event brought together over 300 leading robotic urologists, surgeons, academicians, and healthcare experts from across the country. As eastern India’s first National Robotic Urology Forum Conference, the event served as a critical platform to discuss emerging technologies, share clinical expertise, and explore the future of robotic urological care.

​The conference highlighted the rapid global growth of robotic urology, which is driven by the increasing success of procedures such as radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, and other advanced urological interventions. Expert discussions emphasized how robotic-assisted surgery transforms urological care through greater precision, improved surgical outcomes, and minimally invasive treatment options.

Key clinical benefits highlighted include:

• Shorter hospital stays and faster recovery periods.
• Improved functional outcomes and long-term quality of life for patients.
• High-definition 3D vision and advanced robotic instrumentation that enhance precision in complex urological procedures.

​A major focus of the event was the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into robotic surgery. Speakers discussed how AI-powered systems and objective performance metrics assist surgeons in analyzing procedures, measuring surgical performance, and improving clinical decision-making. Machine learning and data-driven insights also play a crucial role in enhancing surgical accuracy, minimizing complications, and shaping the future of personalized robotic healthcare.

​Dr. Tarun Jindal, Organising Secretary of RUFCON 2026 and Consultant Uro-Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata, noted that the conference reflected India’s rapid evolution in robotic urology and encouraged meaningful discussions on AI, Augmented Reality, and next-generation technologies. He emphasized strengthening clinical collaboration and skill development.

​Dr. Ravimohan, Secretary of RUF and Professor, Department of Urology,  PGIMER, Chandigarh, stated that scientific discussions and clinical exchanges drive innovation and improve patient care.

​Dr. T. B. Yuvaraja, Past President & Chief Advisor of RUF, and Director, Uro-Oncology & Robotic Surgery, Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, highlighted that the growing adoption of robotic technology is redefining urological surgery through collaborative platforms like RUFCON.

​The conference concluded with a shared commitment to advancing robotic urology via innovation, research, education, and collaboration, ensuring cutting-edge technologies become more accessible to patients across India.
