Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani delivered a landmark keynote address at the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) annual session, unveiling an ambitious Rs 1 lakh crore investment plan in West Bengal over the next decade. Addressing industry leaders and government representatives, Adani framed Eastern India as essential to unlocking the nation’s next phase of growth.

A Bold Vision for Infrastructure and Networks

Adani emphasized the core strategic lesson behind his company’s growth: Scale creates size, networks create strength. Citing large-scale bets such as the Mundra Port ecosystem, the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, hyperscale AI data centers, and Israel’s Haifa Port, he urged business leaders to build capacity ahead of demand rather than allowing present constraints to limit future opportunities.

Describing Bengal as a strategic national node, Adani highlighted its geographic importance connecting Northern, Eastern, and North-eastern India to fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific.

Key Investment Highlights

The planned Rs 1 lakh crore capital deployment across West Bengal over the coming decade spans multiple sectors:

• Industrial Infrastructure: Comprehensive investments across ports, integrated logistics networks, roads, bridges, and ropeways.
• Energy & Tech: Major capital for power generation, transmission, distribution, green cement production, and hyperscale data centers.
• Healthcare Impact: The establishment of the Adani Arogya Mandir, a 2,000-bed medical institute in New Town, Kolkata, with 50% of beds dedicated to underprivileged patients.
• Cultural Conservation: Philanthropic initiatives to support the revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat, global promotion of Bengal’s Durga Puja artistes, and the conservation of the historic Writers’ Building.

Making Bengal a Second Karmabhoomi

Reflecting on his journey over the last three decades since establishing Mundra Port in Western India, Adani expressed his desire for Bengal to become his second karmabhoomi.

Paying homage to iconic leaders and thinkers like Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Jagadish Chandra Bose, and Rabindranath Tagore, Adani concluded that the initiative is not aimed at making Bengal mimic other states, but at empowering it to become the strongest version of itself.
