First Edition of Ananya Organized; Aim To Support Women From Underprivileged Backgrounds
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, India Power Corporation Ltd (IPCL), which is celebrating its centenary year, started the first edition of ‘Ananya’. The initiative was to offer support to women who hail from underprivileged backgrounds and overcome stiff odds by becoming agents of change.
Distinguished guests who were present on the occasion to support and recognize the initiative by IPCL included Mr. Tapas Banerjee, Member, West Bengal Legislative Assembly & Chairman, Asansol-Durgapur Development Authority, Mr. Bidhan Upadhyay, Member of Legislative Assembly, Barauni, Maharaj Somatmanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission Asansol, Ms. Sudeshna Ghatak, wife of Mr. Moloy Ghatak, Minister-in-Charge, Department of Labour & E.S.I., Government of West Bengal and Ms. Joya Mitra, noted writer, along with Mr. Somesh Dasgupta, Group President, India Power Corporation Ltd.
In Ananya 2019, IPCL identified five women who have been fighting for different causes namely Chandni Bauri, Parbati Manzayain, Rimpa Adhikary, Astami Mishra and Sangita Devi.
