Air India, the top international airline in India, announced the opening of The Maharaja Lounge, its newest signature lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The new lounge, which formally opened on May 23, represents yet another turning point in the airline’s continuous product and service transformation, bringing the new Air India experience to one of its major international entry points.

The Maharaja Lounge, which is over 3,300 square feet and has opulent, modern interiors that combine elements rooted in Indiana aesthetics with modern design sensibilities, is situated close to Gate A1 in the International Terminal at SFO. Air India’s First and Business Class passengers, as well as Platinum and Gold members of the airline’s Maharaja Club loyalty program, can use the lounge, which has a seating capacity of 80. Additionally, it has a special area that is only available to First Class passengers on Air India.

The Maharaja Lounge is a sophisticated expression of heritage seamlessly woven with luxury, providing guests with an immersive introduction to India even before their journey begins. It was conceptualized by the renowned international hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA). It is positioned as the second in a series of signature lounges that Air India envisions, mirroring the design philosophy of the recently opened flagship Maharaja Lounge in Delhi.

The area, which has been carefully chosen, combines unique aspects of the brand with Air India’s rich cultural heritage to create a setting that is both exquisite and cozy. The brand’s color scheme is reflected in the champagne, ivory, and deep red tones. The Vista patterns on the walls and furniture are just one example of how brand motifs are incorporated throughout the interiors. The lounge’s design aims to evoke the spirit of traditional Indian hospitality by fostering a welcoming, cozy, and subtly luxurious atmosphere for visitors. The space showcases regional heritage through artwork by local artists, honoring the airline’s historical connection to the hearts. Additionally, some installations use repurposed aircraft parts that have been carefully transformed into modern works of art.

The following carefully chosen areas, each intended to enhance the interior landscape, define the lounge’s spatial elegance. The areas are The Aviator’s Bar, Tarmac View, Social Zone, Dining Area, and Private Zone.
