Marking the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, Belgachia Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee officially initiated its preparations for the 2026 Durga Puja autumn festival with a traditional Khuti Puja ceremony. Held in the Belgachia area of North Kolkata, this sacred ritual symbolizes the formal commencement of pandal construction. Khuti Puja has evolved from a purely religious custom into a significant socio-cultural event in Bengal, signaling the arrival of the state’s biggest carnival and transforming the local atmosphere into one of anticipation and community bonding.

The ceremony was conducted with strict adherence to Vedic rituals, blending spiritual devotion with public enthusiasm. The event witnessed a strong turnout of residents alongside the core leadership of the Belgachia Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee. Key dignitaries steering the event included:
